A measured look at the electric vehicle and how green it really is…
The Net-Zero Fairy Tale of Lithium batteries
http://www.bitchute.com/video/xR1zcokuYvTzTake the Tesla Model S (below),. In the winter of 2012, producing the electricity for a full charge created 124g of carbon emissions per km driven is roughly the same as a 2L Range Rover Evoque. Now the carbon intensity of charging a Tesla has nearly halved to 74g/km in winter and 41 g/km in summer, as the UK continues to break its own renewable energy records. For smaller EVs, the results are even better. The Nissan Leaf and BMW i3 can now be charged for less than half the CO2 of even the cleanest non-plug-in EV, the Toyota Prius Hybrid.

Electric Car Fire
“Most of the electricity generated by North American grids has some greenhouse gas emissions connected to it. So even if a car isn’t belching carbon, it doesn’t mean it’s perfectly clean.
For instance, coal is about the dirtiest way to generate electricity to recharge a car battery. Powering an EV with electricity generated from coal is marginally better than burning gasoline in an internal-combustion engine, according to numbers compiled by Jennifer Dunn at Northwestern University’s Center for Engineering Sustainability and Resilience.”
“As long as coal- or gas-fired power plants are needed to ensure energy supply during the “dark doldrums” when the wind is not blowing and the sun is not shining, EVs, like ICE vehicles, run partly on hydrocarbons. And even when they are charged with solar- or wind-generated energy, enormous amounts of fossil fuels are used to produce EV batteries in China and elsewhere, offsetting the supposed emissions reduction. As such, the EU’s intervention is not much better than a cutoff device for an emissions control system.”

And mainly due to their massive battery packs, electric cars are worse than gasoline cars for both measures. Ricardo – the British consultancy group – found that electric cars emit 8.8 tonnes (8,800 kg!) of CO2, compared to 5.6 tonnes (5,600 kg) of CO2 for gasoline cars. Equally, a report by Fraunhofer IBP said that it takes double the energy to produce an EV compared to a conventional car.
